Club Atlético Guadalajara broadened its horizons as they linked up with the English club Middlesbrough FC.

Football has no boundaries because you are able to associate with people from different cultures and origins, but with one thing in common, football. This is the exact same thing that we experienced this summer with Atlético Guadalajara, after we linked up with Middlesbrough Football Club, who currently play in the second division in England. (Also known as “The Championship”)

Mario García, president of Atletico Guadalajara, coach Vicente Cano and Mark Cowan, associated with the club we linked with. They travelled to the region of Teesside this month (August) in order to get to know at first hand, how the main club of the city worked and to see its facilities.

Middlesbrough FC are currently playing in the Championship, the second divison, being one of the founding members of the Premier League.

The welcoming we received from the club couldn’t have been better. We were given a guided tour of the key areas, such as the tunnel, pitchside and the press room. The next day, Club Atletico Guadalajara’s representatives went to the match between Middlesbrough FC and Brentford FC. Furthermore, they were also there to participate in the opening of the new FanZone which was installed oppposite the entrance to the stadium.

This link-up between the two clubs ended with an exchange of gifts. The “Boro” as they are also known, donated one of their footballs signed by all of the players to Atletico Guadalajara, and, in return, Atletico Guadalajara donated one of its scarves.

In truth, it was a rewarding experience, which will give us the motivation to continue working hard and improving on a daily basis at Atletico Guadalajara
